Product overview

Polyethylene is a resin family—not one interchangeable grade.

Zenith Eclipse coordinates polyethylene resin supply for converters, packaging manufacturers, pipe producers, molders and industrial processors. HDPE grades are commonly selected for rigid molding, pipe and selected film applications; LDPE grades for flexible film and extrusion coating; and LLDPE grades for film, liners and selected rotational-molding applications. Final suitability depends on the exact producer grade, equipment, formulation and finished-product requirement.

Every quotation identifies the polyethylene family, producer and grade code, intended conversion process, melt mass-flow rate with its temperature and load, density basis, colour, additive package, quantity, packaging, shipment period, delivery term and required documents. An alternative grade is offered only for the buyer's technical review and written approval.

Contract specification

Resin family, grade code and test conditions must stay together.

Two polyethylene resins with the same family name or similar nominal melt flow rate can behave differently because of molecular structure, molecular-weight distribution, comonomer, additive package and manufacturing route. The contract should identify the exact producer grade or a technically approved equivalent, together with every relevant test condition.

Quality control & handling

Protect the exact grade from booking through conversion.

Quality review starts with the producer's grade designation and current technical data sheet. When included in the commercial scope, the certificate of analysis should identify the manufactured lot and report the agreed release properties. A family name, nominal density or commercial cross-reference does not by itself authorize substitution.

Resin should be kept in clean, dry, covered conditions and protected from torn packaging, foreign material, water, excessive heat and cross-contamination. Lot labels, bag or pallet identity, container condition and seals are checked according to the agreed handling plan.

Export documentation

Build the document pack around the exact resin grade.

The technical pack can include the producer's technical data sheet, safety data sheet and lot-linked certificate of analysis when these documents form part of the confirmed offer. Commercial and shipping documents can include the invoice, packing list, certificate of origin and transport document.

Food-contact, restricted-substance, pipe, electrical or other conformity declarations are included only when they apply to the exact grade, destination and stated use and are supported by current producer evidence. A resin declaration does not replace the converter's responsibility to assess the formulation, processing conditions and finished article.

Packaging & order formats

Use packaging that preserves identity and cleanliness.

Possible formats include producer-sealed bags on pallets, flexible intermediate bulk containers, octabins or approved bulk systems. Feasible formats and net quantities depend on the manufacturer, grade, loading point, order volume and route and are confirmed in the written offer.

Package construction, palletization, stretch wrapping, labels, lot codes, shipping marks, container liner and moisture-protection requirements are agreed before dispatch. No fixed bag size or bulk format is presented as universally available.

Logistics & Incoterms

Coordinate resin handling with the conversion schedule.

Container and bulk movements are planned around equipment cleanliness, cargo compatibility, payload, secure stowage, loss-resistant packaging, pellet-loss controls and protection from water or damaged packaging. Applicable transport classification and handling instructions are taken from the current safety data sheet for the exact material.

The quotation states the Incoterms® 2020 rule, named port or place, shipment window and included freight scope. Customs coordination, port handling, transshipment and final delivery can be aligned with the buyer's production and receiving plan where feasible.

01What is the difference between HDPE, LDPE and LLDPE?+

They are different polyethylene families with different molecular structures, density ranges and processing behaviour. HDPE is generally selected for more rigid molding, pipe and selected film uses; LDPE for flexible film and coating; and LLDPE for film, liners and selected rotational-molding uses. The exact grade—not the family name alone—determines suitability.

02How should a buyer select a polyethylene grade?+

Provide the conversion process, equipment, finished application and required MFR, density, additives and performance tests. A current grade code or benchmark technical data sheet gives the clearest basis for evaluation.

03Is melt flow index enough to approve an equivalent grade?+

No. MFR or MFI must include its temperature and test load, and it does not describe every processing or finished-product property. Density, molecular structure, additive package and application tests can also be critical.

04Can Zenith Eclipse quote food-contact polyethylene?+

A grade can be presented for review only when current producer evidence supports the stated food-contact jurisdiction and use. The buyer or converter must still assess processing, additives, migration conditions and the finished article.

05Can pipe-grade polyethylene be supplied?+

A pipe material should be quoted by exact producer grade, compound classification, applicable pipe standard and required certification. Generic HDPE or a PE80 or PE100 description without supporting evidence is not sufficient.

06Which technical documents can accompany the resin?+

Depending on the confirmed scope, documents can include a technical data sheet, safety data sheet, lot-linked certificate of analysis and applicable grade-specific declarations. Required documents should be listed in the RFQ.

07What packaging and minimum order quantity are available?+

Packaging and workable order size depend on the producer, grade, current allocation, loading point and route. The quotation confirms the available format, net quantity, palletization and minimum commercial lot.

08Can a sample or independent resin test be arranged?+

A sample, retained sample or independent test can be considered when agreed in advance. The buyer should confirm whether approval is based on a producer sample, shipment lot, laboratory result or processing trial.
