Ocean OOG and Special Equipment
Ocean out-of-gauge freight requires equipment and vessel-space approval based on the complete transport unit. Zenith Eclipse coordinates flat-rack, open-top and other special-equipment enquiries with the carrier and terminals, including the routing implications of cargo extending beyond the equipment envelope.
Scope and responsibilities
Service scope and requirements
Special equipment does not make every oversized load acceptable. Final approval uses the packed dimensions, loading arrangement and route-specific operating constraints.
| Scope item | Requirement or agreed coverage |
|---|---|
| Transport dimensions | Overall length, width, height and projections after packing and securing |
| Mass and support | Verified weight, centre of gravity and cargo support locations |
| Equipment option | Proposed flat-rack, open-top or other carrier-approved configuration |
| Handling file | Drawings, lifting points and competent-party loading or securing plan |
| Stowage review | Carrier assessment of footprint, lost slots and permitted placement |
| Route capability | Origin, transfer and destination terminal handling acceptance |
| Inland interface | Equipment collection, access constraints and separately approved road legs |
| Commercial conditions | Equipment availability, special handling, cancellation and change assumptions |
Best-fit requirements
When to use this service
Appropriate for machinery or industrial packages that can travel on container-vessel special equipment once the full transport envelope and securing arrangement are accepted.
Execution and deliverables
How the work is coordinated
The enquiry distinguishes the cargo’s own measurements from the dimensions of the secured cargo on its transport equipment. A routing is checked at every transfer port, since acceptance at origin does not establish acceptance for the whole voyage. Qualified parties prepare the relevant handling and securing plans. Changes to packaging, supports or dimensions are resubmitted before the booking proceeds.
Prepare your enquiry
Send dimensioned drawings, packed measurements, verified weight, support and lifting information, photographs if available and required ports. State whether weather protection is needed and who supplies engineering or lashing services. Include the ready window and whether inland transport is part of the request.
