Product overview

Sunflower seed is not one interchangeable commodity.

Zenith Eclipse supplies sunflower seeds to oil crushers, snack processors, food manufacturers, packers, importers and feed buyers. Oil-type seed, confectionery in-shell seed, exposed kernels and feed-use seed require different physical, analytical, safety and packaging controls.

Every offer states the product class and form, intended use, grade or private specification, size basis, quality limits, optional composition tests, quantity, packing, shipment period, Incoterms® rule, inspection and documents. Traits, origin, crop year, certification, analytical values and availability are confirmed only for the offered lot.

Applications

Sunflower Seeds selected for the way your operation uses it.

01

Oil crushing and refining

Whole oil-type seed contracted for condition, oil content, moisture, dockage and crushing requirements under agreed methods.

02

Confectionery and snack processing

Cleaned or calibrated in-shell seed selected for size distribution, appearance, damage limits and buyer-defined roast performance.

03

Bakery and food ingredients

Whole kernels or kernel pieces specified for integrity, residual hull, food safety, packing and downstream formulation.

04

Feed and bird-food programs

Whole seed supplied under a separate feed specification, contaminant plan and destination-use declaration.

Contract specification

Oilseed, confectionery seed and kernels need different contracts.

Oil-purpose seed and confectionery seed follow different commercial and inspection logic, while kernels have their hull removed and need separate integrity and food-safety controls. The contract should state whether results are before or after dockage removal and identify every sampling and test method.

01

Quality control & handling

Control class, condition and exposed-kernel risk separately.

Representative lot sampling and the signed specification determine acceptance. Checks can cover moisture, purity or dockage, foreign material, heat, mould, insect and other damage, sizing, dehulled content, kernel integrity, oil content and destination-specific safety tests.

Oilseed, confectionery, kernel and feed lots remain segregated by identity and use. Whole seed is stored clean and dry; dehulled kernels require stronger hygienic handling and route-appropriate protection from moisture, oxygen, light, heat and foreign odours.

  • Product class and use maintained
  • Sizing and test methods recorded
  • Raw or processed status declared
  • Independent analysis or inspection coordinated when requested
02

Export documentation

Tie every document to the product class and lot.

The required document set depends on whole seed or kernel form, food or feed use, origin, destination and sale term. A phytosanitary certificate or additional declaration is included only when required by the importing authority.

The contracted set may include a commercial invoice, packing list, transport document, certificate of origin, certificate of analysis, grade, quality, weight or independent inspection certificate, phytosanitary certificate, treatment record, insurance document and verified food-, feed- or trait-related statements.

03

Packaging & order formats

Use different protection for in-shell seed and kernels.

Bulk, suitable lined containers, flexible intermediate bulk containers or sacks can be reviewed for whole oilseed; confectionery seed and exposed kernels may require more protective, food-suitable formats. Operational options are confirmed per quotation.

Material, liner, net weight, tolerance, closure, marks, label language, pallet pattern and loading configuration are agreed. Kernel packaging should address seal integrity, oxidation risk and hygienic handling for the planned route.

04

Logistics & Incoterms

Preserve class, calibration and condition in transit.

Transport units are checked for cleanliness, dryness, structural condition, previous-cargo compatibility, odour, pests and water-ingress risk. Lot, package, weight and seal details are recorded where the contract requires them.

The quotation identifies the Incoterms® 2020 rule and exact named place or port, loading window, mode, transshipment, inspection point, insurance responsibility and destination-document timing.

What we supply

Sunflower seed classes and forms

Availability and processing status are confirmed for each quotation. Food, feed, crushing and ready-to-eat descriptions are never assumed from appearance alone.

01

Oil-type sunflower seed

Whole seed for crushing, specified for oil content, moisture, dockage, damage and receiving requirements.

02

Confectionery sunflower seed

In-shell non-oil seed supplied against size distribution, colour, damage, purity and processing criteria.

03

Calibrated in-shell seed

Confectionery seed screened to an agreed sieve distribution or count convention for roasting and packing.

04

Dehulled sunflower kernels

Whole kernels or pieces defined by integrity, residual hull, safety controls and food-suitable packaging.

05

Feed-designated sunflower seed

Whole seed supplied under a dedicated feed specification and destination feed requirements.

Sunflower Seeds supplier FAQs

Answers procurement teams need before booking.

01Are all sunflower seeds suitable for crushing, snacks and feed?+

No. Oil-type seed, confectionery in-shell seed, dehulled food kernels and feed-use seed require separate specifications and declarations.

02Can oilseed and confectionery seed use one generic grade?+

They should be quoted separately because their intended use, sizing, inspection factors and buyer acceptance criteria differ.

03Are sunflower kernels the same as dehulled sunflower seed?+

Here, kernels mean the interior seed after the hull is removed. The contract should also define whole kernels, chips, broken pieces and residual hull.

04Is raw sunflower seed automatically food-grade or ready-to-eat?+

No. Food-use lots need agreed safety controls and documents, and raw seed or kernels are not automatically ready-to-eat without a defined validated process.

05Which analyses can appear on the COA?+

Depending on form and use, the contract can require moisture, purity or dockage, damage, sizing, dehulled content, oil content, safety tests or other agreed factors.

06Can a specific trait, origin or crop year be supplied?+

Only when included in the quotation and supported by current lot records and test or traceability evidence.

07Which packaging formats are available?+

Whole oilseed, confectionery seed and kernels require different handling and barrier levels. The feasible bulk, bag or lined format is confirmed for the lot and route.

08What information is needed for a sunflower seed quote?+

Provide the class, form, use, specification, quantity, packaging, destination, shipment period, Incoterm, testing and required documents.
