Rail-Road Door Delivery
Rail-road door delivery connects an established rail movement with origin collection or destination delivery. Zenith Eclipse coordinates the terminal-to-site handoff so a train arrival can progress to usable delivery capacity. The plan confirms whether a container remains intact or goods must transfer from a wagon to a road vehicle.
Scope and responsibilities
Service scope and requirements
This service focuses on the road connections to a rail booking. Terminal release, receiving access and unloading resources determine dispatch readiness.
| Scope item | Requirement or agreed coverage |
|---|---|
| Rail movement | Booking reference, station, equipment identity and expected arrival |
| Door addresses | Collection or delivery location, site access and contact details |
| Release conditions | Railway, terminal and customs release required before collection |
| Transfer arrangement | Container lift or agreed wagon-to-truck cargo handling |
| Road equipment | Chassis or vehicle compatible with cargo and local route limits |
| Appointments | Terminal slot and loading or receiving window |
| Return obligations | Empty container or wagon destination and allowed standing time |
| Delivery record | Quantity reconciliation, visible exceptions and signed POD |
Best-fit requirements
When to use this service
Suitable for shippers without a usable private siding and receivers needing delivery beyond a rail terminal. It can also connect wagon freight to warehouses that accept truck deliveries but cannot unload railway equipment directly.
Execution and deliverables
How the work is coordinated
Use confirmed release status to arrange the truck and unloading appointment, rather than sending a vehicle solely against the estimated train arrival. Where goods transfer between units, agree handling, tally and condition records before the operation. Complete delivery evidence and equipment-return confirmation close the job. Terminal storage, wagon standing and truck waiting are separate cost exposures and need their own allowances.
Prepare your enquiry
Send rail booking or station details, container or wagon information, cargo dimensions and weight, door address and required date. Confirm customs status, unloading capability, permitted transfer method and the party responsible for empty-equipment return.
